Adult Ministries

At UPC, we offer opportunities for mission, worship, and building our faith, recognizing both the unique and common needs of our community. Adult Ministries is composed of Pre-schoolers and Parents, Presbyterian Women, Retreat Planning, and Adult Education.  Email Kathy Escandell, Director of Christian Formation for Adults.

Parenting and Faith Class

Meets in Classroom 3, LL Sundays at 9:40 a.m.. The group provides an opportunity for people with pre-school children to discuss issues important to them and their families, share their experiences and support one another. There are Sunday School Classes for children of all ages. Topics are chosen by the group in advance.

Presbyterian Women

Remie Martin, Moderator

Presbyterian Women (PW) is the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Committed to nurturing faith, supporting the church’s mission, working for justice, and building community. PW is organized at all levels of the Presbyterian Church, in Congregations, Presbyteries and Synods, as well as General Assembly.

At UPC, we have two PW Study Groups that gather monthly. One meets on the second Saturday of the month at 11:00 a.m., and the other on the second Tuesday of the month, at 10:00 a.m. Both study groups meet at various members’ homes or at the church.

Men of UPC

The Men of UPC sponsor Saturday breakfasts several times a year with speakers on timely topics. All men of UPC are invited for the regular gatherings for fellowship or activities. The men also hold an annual retreat – check the newsletter for dates.

All Church Retreat Planning

The congregation is invited to participate in the annual all-church retreat held in the spring at Mo Ranch near Hunt, Texas. Coordinated by John Leedy, registration begins November 13 for the April 20-22, 2012 retreat.  Keynote Speaker will be Melissa Wiginton.

Faith and Life Class
Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Room 210

The Faith and Life Class takes advantage of the rich theological resources available at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the University of Texas, and the UPC staff and congregation. We often have guest speakers, and topics cover a wide range of theological and biblical concerns. If you want to expand your thinking and deepen your understanding, please join this stimulating class.

The Present Word
Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Room 2, Lower Level

The Present Word is a discussion Bible study class utilizing the quarterly Uniform Lesson Series, led by UPC member, Roscoe Overton.
