Ruth Ann is the Advanced Placement US History teacher and Department Head at Bowie High School; Ruth Ann and I have 5 children between them – Grace 16 year old junior at Bowie, 22 year old Michael Sr. at TAMU- Chemistry, 24 year old Marianna – married serving on Campus Crusade staff in Athens, Greece, 26 year old David USAF Kirtland AFB Command Post Albuquerque, NM and 28 year old Emily – CPA with KPMG in Zürich, Switzerland.Email Carl Floto
Jan joined the staff of UPC in October 2014. Following a long career in high tech marketing and communications, Jan moved to nonprofit management in 2002, serving as the chief marketing officer for United Way Capital Area (now United Way Greater Austin) for four years. Most recently, Jan was employed by Micah 6 of Austin as volunteer and donor engagement director and interim pantry operations director. She graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC, with a degree in English, and attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina and MIT. Jan and her husband Walter live in central Austin. They have two adult children, Rebecca and Charles.Email Jan Hames
Trudi has been a member of the UPC staff since January 2015. She grew up in Maryland, and graduated from Westminster College (PA), where she double majored in math and physics. After obtaining a graduate degree from Purdue University, she went to work as a systems engineer at AT&T Bell Labs in New Jersey. She and her husband Tom have been living in Austin since 1997. Over the years, Trudi has been an active volunteer with a variety of community organizations, serving as a board member at several of them. She is a proud parent of three grown children–Matt, Jill and Dana.Email Trudi Capostosto
Whitney is a graduate of the University of Austin with a bachelors degree in Radio-Television -Film. In 2008, Whitney earned a masters degree in Public History-Documentary Film from Texas State University. He is married to his wife of 18 years and has two sons; Benjamin (15) and Max (13) He has created video projects, live sports specials and marketing pieces while working in broadcast television, hi tech, and at Southwestern University.
Whitney has his own production company, Milam Film Works, and recently completed a podcast series for the Austin-based non-profit, “Hand to Hold.” In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, running and walking his dog, Scout. He is a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in NW Austin.
Ruth moved to Austin September 2016, where her son and daughter also live, and is enjoying getting to know the area. Ruth was raised in the Presbyterian church in Mexico, MO, and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. After she married, Ruth lived in Nicaragua, Central America, for seven years, speaks, fluent Spanish, and has lived in St. Louis, Chicago, Brownsville, and Dallas…all interesting places to live.
Ruth likes the arts, music and visual arts, and feels blessed to live in such a culturally active community. She enjoys attending UPC and hopes to get to know you all soon.
