Pastor Nominating Committee
The Pastor Nominating Committee appointed by Session May 2016:
Rosanne Becker met her husband, Laurence A. Becker, PhD, through UPC. She moved to Austin to attend UT as a transfer student in September 1957, and immediately joined Westminster Student Fellowship and there was introduced to Laurence. She joined UPC in 1962 and was awarded Presbyterian Women: Lifetime Membership in 1975. Rosanne has been a member of a Presbyterian Women circle and a regular member of an adult Sunday School class ever since joining the church. She established and served in 1993 on the first AIDS Care Team, has served as a Deacon and a Ruling Elder, was one of the founding members of UPC’s Heritage Ministry, and has served on the Mission & Service Ministry team for more than 15 years. Rosanne has also served as a Communicant Mentor and is serving as Facilitator in the Faith & Grief Ministry.
Bob Bridge first attended UPC as a college student in the mid-1970s. Bob met his wife Lynn in the UPC college group, and they returned to UPC in 1982 when they moved back to Austin. Their three children, Ruth Marie, Jeffrey and Emily, grew up at UPC. Bob has been active at UPC, including serving as a Ruling Elder, Sunday school teacher, youth advisor, stewardship campaign chair, and as a member of the search committees for Associate Pastors Judy Skaggs and Rebecca Chancellor. Currently, Bob serves on the Resource & Planning Ministry team, is UPC’s Assistant Treasurer, and is the Executive Director of the Southwest Angel Network for Social Impact.
Michael Dodd and his wife Mary have been members of UPC since 1984. They have three children, all of whom were involved in and were baptized at UPC: Rachel, Adrienne, and John. Michael has served as a Ruling Elder several times; chaired several ministry teams, including Mission & Service, Staff Oversight, and Resources & Planning; he and Mary have been high school sponsors; taught Sunday school for college students, high school students, and the Faith & Life class. Michael has served as a mentor for a youth going through confirmation; chaired the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee for Campus Minister in the early 1990s; and he and his family have participated in several of the Mexico Mission Trips. Michael is an attorney at Dodd & Batla, P.C., and is an adjunct lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches the International Business Fellows Seminar, through the MBA program. Michael also has an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary, New York City.
Jonathan Eddison has been a member of UPC since 2009. He teaches the Tuesday Evening Bible class, serves on the Investment Committee and the Worship & Music Ministry team. He was a Ruling Elder from 2011-14 and served on the Education Ministry team. He has been chair of the Multi-Cultural Task Force and co-chair of the Communications Task Force, and most recently served as a member of the Mission Study Group. Jon is a frequent speaker at the Faith & Life class and was this year a mentor in the Confirmation class. He has also been responsible for organizing and ensuring that all communion preparations for the table are done for all communion Sundays since 2014. He has worked as a transactional lawyer and is currently an entrepreneur looking to acquire a company. He and his wife, Diane, have two adult daughters, Marie and Eliza; two adult stepdaughters Julie and Jenny; and two step grandchildren, Isabella and Grayson.
Byron French and his wife, Sarah are expecting their first child in November. He is Senior Manager at MAXIMUS and Co-founder of Lockout Austin. Byron has been a member of UPC for seven plus years and was on the Board of Deacons 2010 – 2013, serving as Moderator 2012-2013. Byron is currently on the Staff Oversight Ministry team, in the Handbell Choir, a Micah 6 volunteer, a member of the Youth Ministry Team, and is a Youth Confirmation Advisor. He has served on the Youth Mission Trip 2013, Young Adult Ministry Team, and was Stewardship Chair 2014.
Meg McReynolds has been a member of UPC since 1998, quickly joining the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. She and her husband, Tommy, were married at UPC 15 years ago. Meg has been involved in a variety of ministries, including being a former Ruling Elder and currently a Resources and Planning Ministry team member; youth sponsor on mission trips to Asheville, NC, and New Orleans, as well as retreats; an active participant in Young Adult activities and the UPC Bridge group; and an alto in the Chancel Choir as well as currently directing the Joyful Noise Handbell Choir. For her day job, Meg works for Charles Schwab in their retail division.
Stephanie Morris and her husband Lance have two nine-year-old daughters, Adele and Baker. She spends much of her time volunteering at their elementary school and at UPC. Stephanie has attended UPC for 20 plus years and has been a member for 18 years. She currently attends the Parenting & Faith Sunday school class, has served as a Ruling Elder and chaired the Mission & Service Ministry team. She has also served on the Worship & Music Ministry team, has taught and coordinated VBS, participated on Border Mission Trips and helped with Micah 6, chaired the Building Design/Renovation Committee, and has overseen the last three facility renovations at UPC.
Debbie Warden is married to John. She is retired from the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs, and has been a member of UPC for 23 years. Debbie has served three terms as a Ruling Elder. She is currently serving on and former chair
of the Staff Oversight Ministry team, is also serving on the Adult Education Ministry team, and is a regular UPLift volunteer. Debbie was Chair of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee that called Ben Johnston-Krase. Debbie taught the 3 & 4 year old Sunday school class for two years and now is a member of the Faith & Life Sunday school class.
