Anja was born and raised in Germany. In the 1980s, she relocated to the United States, where she obtained citizenship, initially settling in Seattle, Washington, and subsequently in San Francisco, California. In San Francisco, she contributed to a community college in Los Altos Hills and volunteered with Shanti, a community-based organization dedicated to supporting individuals diagnosed with HIV throughout the 1990s. After several years on the West Coast, she transferred to Austin, Texas. Prior to her tenure at UPC, she held the position of Director of Operations at the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, engaging in physical exercise, and participating in competitive games of Monopoly with her significant other.
